Horizons University

Horizons University had an intention to modernise the look & feel of their website along with building a robust and easy-to-use CMS to support multilingual content. Site Media was up to the challenge.

After all functional requirement have been gathered, we started working on wireframe to schematically visualise the content blocks on a new website. That is normally the part of our design process and we only switch to graphic editors once we’ve got the wireframe right and approved by the customer.

After we’ve got the wireframe ready it’s time for us to roll up our sleeves for a website design. It’s very important to have customer’s input at this stage to specify styles and elements to be used in the design — sometimes it’s enough to show what your likes/dislikes are with regards to other websites. Here’s the final result:

At the moment website supports 5 languages: English, French, Chinese, Italian and Portuguese. User is served his preferred language based on his browser language. All multilingual content is easily managed in the back-end.

Promotional banner in the middle is dynamic, content managed and displaying featured items from the Articles section.

To add more interactivity to the website we suggested to put Twitter, Youtube and Blog feeds on the website’s sidebar.

…and some enhancement on the Brochures list page: Horizons has different covers for each brochure and they look nice spinning on a 3D carousel.There is some usability behind it as well: the user sees all brochures without scrolling the page down and chooses the right one.

Voice Search is enabled for Google Chrome users.

Online payments integration with Natixis Bank (France) was launched to collect application fees from perspective students. All types of card payments are accepted, university administration receives email notifications on sucessful/rejected payments and applications. Apllication fee and email for reports can be set up in administration panel which makes application management extremely flexible and easy to use.
